Making a rare appearance on Instagram, Julie Chrisley caused a bit of an uproar while relishing in how much she adored being Chloe’s mother. In the comments, many frustrated fans urged Todd Chrisley’s wife to “give it a rest” because she was “not really Chloe’s mother” and “Chloe is not your daughter.”

As anyone who follows the Chrisley Knows Best family knows, there is a massive divide in how fans feel when it comes to Chloe. Technically, Chloe is the daughter of Todd’s son Kyle. Todd and Julie, however, have been raising Chloe since she was very young. While it is unclear as to whether they ever formally adopted Chloe, they do have guardianship over her because neither Kyle nor her birth mother were fit to take care of her.

While it was painful for Kyle Chrisley to do, he had his own issues to deal with and he wasn’t in the right head space to give Chloe the life she needed. Now, Chloe Chrisley has spent so much of her life with Todd and Julie as the only parents she’s ever known, it would almost be cruel to give her back to Kyle at this point in her life.

Now, Chrisley Knows Best fans don’t particularly have an issue with Todd and Julie stepping in to raise Chloe Chrisley. But, a large portion of fans don’t like them referring to Chloe as their daughter. Moreover, they don’t like the couple claiming to be her mother and father. Todd, however, has explained more than a few times on his podcast that Chloe was given the freedom to decide what labels she wanted to put on Todd and Julie. And, she decided she wanted to call them mom and dad.

Unsurprisingly, Julie Chrisley taking to Instagram to relish in how much she loved being the mother of Chloe wasn’t well-received by many of her followers. Just what did Julie have to say and what did fans say in response? Keep reading for the details.

Julie Chrisley causes uproar while relishing in being Chloe’s mother

Turns out, today was a special day in the Chrisley household! It was Chloe Chrisley’s birthday. And, it wasn’t just any birthday. It was her golden birthday. She was turning 10 years old today.

I can’t believe it’s your golden birthday! How are you 10 already? It seems like just yesterday I was rocking you in my arms. I thank God he chose me to be your mom! I love you Coco and I hope you have a wonderful birthday!”
In the comments, fans were furious that Julie referred to herself as Chloe’s mother. Not everyone felt that way, however, there were just as many who were quick to defend Julie. Defensive fans noted that anyone can give birth to a child. But, it takes someone special to raise a child. Here’s some of what fans had to say in the comments:
  • “I like your family but you can’t say that Chloe is your daughter. You are not Chloe’s mother…. Think about how her own mother feels about you saying your her mother. You wouldn’t want someone doing that to you.”
  • “came here to see if anyone else was thinking the same thing. She can raise her ‘like her own’ but at the end of the day you’re still just her grandma.”
  • “Anyone can give birth but Julie has been her mother cause she has raised her.”
  • “Dang, some of these comments are rude as hell. You can read right?”

  1. When a child is being raised my loving people, the child will see them as their parents. This is all she knows. As long as they explain to her who her biological parents are, and she still feels comfortable calling them Mom and Dad let her. She hears Grayson, Savannah and Chase calling them Mom and Dad, she is going to want to feel included as well. If they had gotten her older, then perhaps that would be different, but they had her since she was a toddler or younger. In her eyes and heart, they are her parents. Yes, her bio-mother will be her bio-mother, but Julie is her mother because she is bringing her up with care and affection. She is providing for her, doing all the things a mother is supposed to do.
