Carrie Ann Inaba Hits Back At ‘DWTS’ Pro That Criticized Judges
Carrie Ann Inaba has been a judge on Dancing With The Stars since Season 1. In her time at the judges’ table, she’s had the chance to meet so many talented dancers and celebrity guests.
Although Carrie Ann is friends with many of the pro dancers, she has a bit of a history with one. They once dated and now it seems like they frequently butt heads in the ballroom. The dancer recently criticized the judges, but Carrie Ann wasn’t about to take his remarks without a chance to tell her side of the story.

Carrie Ann Inaba seemed offended by Artem Chigvintsev’s exit interview
Elimination is always tough for DWTS participants. But at the end of the season, only one team can win. Artem Chigvintsev and Heidi D’Amelio went home at the end of 90s Night. Heidi said in her own exit interview that she was disappointed, but had a great time. Artem mostly expressed his disappointment in the situation.
“I’m definitely disappointed,” the Season 29 champion told Page Six. “I think what’s hard is, this show becomes your life. For the past 10 weeks, this has been every second of [our] day … I mean, you just breathe, and sleep, and even dream of this, of what’s happening on the floor, right?”
Artem went on to say that he felt like the elimination was so rough because he and Heidi worked so hard to make the corrections the judges offered. He was disappointed to see that the scores didn’t reflect their hard work.
“The emotional part, it’s more challenging than learning the steps – especially for a person who is not a performer,” the dancer went on to say. “There’s a lot of people on the show who perform for a living … that’s what they do [on a] day to day basis. [Heidi] doesn’t, that’s not her job … so overcoming that and then kind of getting, like, ‘Bye, see ya,’ it does makes you feel a little bit like, ‘Ah, well this sucks.’”
Artem’s response seemed to be pretty tame, but Carrie Ann Inaba seemed slighted by his comments.

Redditors shared screenshots of Carrie Ann Inaba’s clap back at Artem. And many DWTS viewers were actually incredibly confused by her response.
“I hardly ever respond to things like this, but I wanted to take a moment to respond to @theartemc comments after being eliminated first last night,” the judge shared. The following screenshots featured lengthy posts of Carrie Ann defending her choices as a judge.
“I’m fine with Carrie Ann in general but this is odd. Artem wasn’t even throwing a fit in the interview like he and Melora kinda did last season, he was just saying he was disappointed and it’s frustrating trying to do what the judge want but then it not being enough,” one Redditor said.
“Total Artem fan but he didn’t say anything wrong that warranted a response from Carrie Ann. Derek, Maks, and Val [have] said way worse than this,” another added. Many agreed, noting that the Chmerkovskiy brothers are notorious for taking criticism poorly.
This isn’t the first time Carrie Ann and Artem have come to verbal blows, either. During Season 29, they seemed to keep squabbling on the set when Carrie Ann gave Artem and his partner lower scores. By the end of the season, they seemed to squash their issues. However, fans can’t help but gossip and wonder if their past together is fueling the ongoing drama.
