Might TLC have played a role in destroying Jim Bob Duggar’s family? After many years on TLC, some of the Duggar family’s secrets have been exposed. They have been heavily criticized for some of their extreme religious beliefs and potentially harmful practices as well. Now, fans are wondering how TLC might have changed things for the Duggars and ultimately destroyed what they previously had.

The Duggar Family’s Time On TLC

TLC viewers may know about the family’s lengthy history on TLC. The Duggars were featured in a handful of specials due to the public’s fascination with their large family. In 2004, they appeared on TV for the first time in 14 Kids and Counting (also known as 14 Kids and Pregnant Again).

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar went on to get their own TLC show titled 19 Kids and Counting (formerly known as 17 Kids and Counting and 18 Kids and Counting). The show was on for a total of 10 seasons, spanning from 2008 through 2015.

After 19 Kids & Counting was canceled, the Duggar family got a spin-off series called Counting On, which ran from 2015 through 2020 for a total of 11 seasons. It was canceled shortly after Josh Duggar was arrested on child pornography charges.

Did TLC Play A Role In Destroying Jim Bob Duggar’s Family?

On Reddit, Duggar fans and critics are speculating that TLC might have played a role in destroying the family. Some believe that the network exposed some of the family’s dirty secrets and that ultimately led to their downfall. Without the shows, the truth about the family may not have gone public.

One fan said, “I don’t think reality TV caused these families to implode. I think them being families that that might/would implode eventually is what made them interesting enough for a reality TV show.”

Someone else pointed out that the family’s issues and negative practices, including things like Josh’s molestations and blanket training, have been going on for years. This Reddit user feels that bringing these things to light might have been to the benefit of the youngest kids. They said, “If anything, being on film forced the Duggars to moderate some of the more draconian aspects of their parenting and the younger children especially at least always had enough food to eat and a little more space to live in, as well as an opportunity to see a little bit more of the real world.”

Without TLC, the truth about Jim Bob Duggar’s family may still be under wraps.
