Did Jim Bob Duggar Ever Actually Adopt Tyler?
Fans are beginning to wonder whether Jim Bob Duggar ever adopted Tyler Hutchins. The young man has been living with Jim Bob and Michelle since 2016, but has he actually been legally adopted by the Duggar family yet? Keep reading to get all of the details.
Who is Tyler Hutchins?
If you’re a fan of the Duggars, you probably know that they have 19 children. However, they ended up with a total of 20 kids in their family. This is because Jim Bob and Michelle have temporary custody of her great-nephew, Tyler Hutchins. He’s now 14 years old.
According to the 19 Kids & Counting Wiki page, in 2015, Tyler was in his grandmother’s care after his mother, Rachel Wright was deemed unfit to care for him. He only stayed with his grandma for a year before she had a stroke. He moved in with the Duggar family in November 2016. So, as of this month, he’s been with them for six years.
It looks like Tyler is doing well with the Duggar family. He appears in many family photos, enjoys trips and outings, and seems to be close with a couple of the Duggar kids.

Did Jim Bob Duggar ever adopt him?
On Reddit, Duggar fans and critics are discussing the legal and financial sides of Jim Bob and Michelle’s guardianship of Tyler. Many have questions about whether Jim Bob and Michelle get a stipend each month for being Tyler’s guardians. Others are curious to know whether Tyler was ever legally adopted by the Duggars.
At this point, it looks like the former Counting On stars are still his guardians. No one knows why he has not been officially adopted. It’s unclear what the future holds for him. And it’s also unknown if there is a reason that the Duggars have not adopted him. Fans assume that the Duggars would announce it if they ever did decide to adopt him.
Tyler appears to be loved and accepted by the Duggar family. In the Instagram post below, you can see that he was included in a photo of all of the siblings.
