Sister Wives star Meri Brown’s notorious catfish scandal has been the focus of several seasons. Although Meri portrayed that she was manipulated by the impersonator, fans feel she was really into it. Was Meri Brown Needy After Divorce From Kody?
Meri was the only wife legally married to Kody until 2014. However, after Robyn entered the family, the couple had to divorce. Even though Meri had a big part in bringing Kody and Robyn together, she did lose her legal wife status. So, there is a big chance that Meri was bitter and needed someone to feel important.

The scandal happened in March 2015 but was brought back to life six years later in 2021.
In her confessional, she revealed,
“This catfish was just planting things in my head and telling me how horrible my family was. And specifically how horrible Kody was.”
Meri Brown Revealed That She Pushed Kody Away
Meri revealed that the catfish manipulated her which is why she didn’t want Kody around. She was angry at him and pushed him away. She revealed, “He’s not the one I should’ve pushed away.”

The reality star was being catfished by a woman named Jackie Overton who was impersonating a man named Sam Cooper. At the time this scandal surfaced, Jackie even released several private videos, photos, and voice messages sent to her by Meri. In the very same season, she also confessed that she has considered everything to make her life better including leaving Kody.
Sister Wives Fans Feel Meri Was In An Emotional Affair
Although their relationship stays rocky even in 2022, they are still spiritually together. She further confessed how hurt she had felt by Kody, blaming him for the affair. More so, Meri claimed that he had pushed her away and right into this person’s arms. Kody continued to push Meri away as she revealed that Kody had suggested she move to Utah and run her B&B after her mom’s death. This was something that she struggled with and even Robyn commented on it.

On Reddit, fans speculated whether Meri would have left Kody if the catfish turned out to be a real guy.
The OG wrote, “I can’t help but be frustrated with the fact she’s not willing to admit that this was a full-blown emotional affair. She was even attempting to meet in person (but kept getting the ‘friend’ instead), so obviously she wanted to progress in the relationship instead of just talking over the phone. So if it was actually a real person, do you think the relationship would’ve worked out? Or at least led to her leaving the family?”
Another agreed, “In a heartbeat.”
“She would have torn her wall down and said see ya,” quipped a third fan.

A fourth explained, “There is no doubt that she would have left. She even alluded to her intention to leave a few times, especially once at a restaurant (which was the most direct she was about intending to leave). I think the catfishing damaged her ability to trust people, and that it’s part of the reason she’s stayed all these years since.”
