Maks Chmerkovskiy Gives Family Update, How’s IVF Going?
Maks Chmerkovskiy may no longer be part of Dancing With The Stars, but the show will always be close to his heart. His wife Peta Murgatroyd returned to the ballroom this year after an absence.
More than anything, the couple would love to welcome home another baby. However, they’ve had fertility issues. Over the summer, Peta bravely told her story and revealed she suffered several miscarriages in the past few years. She and Maks tried IVF toward the end of the summer, but it failed. To take her mind off things, she decided to rejoin DWTS.
Sadly, Peta and her partner Jason Lewis were only in the competition for one episode before elimination. Now, Peta is still around the set for group routines. Her fans are glad that she seems happier, but also wonder if she and Maks will continue their IVF treatments.
Maks Chmerkovskiy & Peta Murgatroyd want to spread awareness about fertility issues
Peta and Maks have a five-year-old son named Shai at home. But they dream of expanding their family and welcoming more children into it. For the time being though, they haven’t been successful with fertility treatments.
Are they going to try again?
“We still want a family that’s bigger than what we are,” Maks told E! News. “We are still going to continue attempts and we’ll see what happens, regardless of the fact we’re going to have a bigger family whether through adoption or whatever this may be.”
The Ukrainian dancer added that the journey certainly wasn’t over yet. The process has been emotionally devastating for him and Peta, but they want to be as open as possible about their journey. They know many other couples are suffering in silence and they want to remove the stigma around fertility issues.
“The difficulties with having a kid aren’t talked about in terms of this is happening a lot of women,” the 42-year-old continued. “They’re dealing with it in a very personal, blocked-off, closed state way that is so detrimental to the psyche.”
While Maks and Peta wait for the answers they’ve prayed for, there is still good news to share. Maks’ brother Val Chmerkovskiy and his wife Jenna Johnson are expecting a baby boy in January. The couple would love to have another baby, but are also happy to welcome a sweet nephew into the family too.
DWTS continues with Halloween Night
Peta isn’t in the competition any longer, but she still may make a fun appearance on Halloween Night. The pros are still active in the ballroom and are rehearsing another fun opening number.
