Cheryl Burke Details Love Life After Divorce — Who Is She Dating?
Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke has been a major part of the series for quite some time. However, this season in particular was challenging for her. This year, Cheryl had to juggle rehearsals on top of finalizing her divorce from actor Matthew Lawrence.
The pair confirmed their split in early 2022 and just wrapped things up this fall. Cheryl is no longer a married woman, but they still may go to court over their dog, Ysa.
After breaking up with Matthew, Cheryl decided to launch her own podcast, Burke In The Game. On the show, she talks about love and dating after divorce — which can sometimes be messy. It’s been a long road, but Cheryl Burke has decided to take an important step and commit to one person. Keep reading to see what she had to say.
Cheryl Burke has conquered many hurdles and is proud of herself
Most of Cheryl Burke’s fans know that she struggles with alcoholism. She has been happily sober for four years now, but still feels tempted now and then. Over the past year, Cheryl has admitted that going through a public divorce has really made it hard for her to stay sober. But so far, she’s managed to stay the course. And her family, friends, and fans couldn’t be prouder.
However, that doesn’t mean things are always easy.
In a new Instagram post, Cheryl chose to be open and emotionally vulnerable with her audience members. She uploaded a series of photos with text on them, detailing her sobriety journey and the road ahead.
Love isn’t out of the question for her in the future. But for now, she just wants to commit to someone important — herself.
“So for now I am choosing to date myself,” Cheryl concluded her lengthy Instagram post. “I am putting myself first for once in my life, in order to really learn to love the woman I am today, while continuing to strive to be the best version of myself that I can be. I know this will be a lifelong journey, but I am dedicated to staying curious and to taking my journey with my sobriety one day, and sometimes even one step and one hour, at a time.”

Cheryl Burke may be done for the current season, but will she come back?
The 38-year-old dancer has teased that she’s retiring before, but she really seems serious this time.
“A lot of people have asked me if this is my last season. The answer to that question is likely yes, this is my last season, as a dancer that is,” the dancer said on Burke In The Game. “… To have been a part of a show for 26 seasons, it is hard for me [to leave]… I always come back, because, I guess, it’s really hard to say goodbye to a show and to a family, that I’ve only known here in Los Angeles. I moved her when I was 21. I’m 38 now. My body is also telling me to stop and it has been.”
