Savannah Guthrie graciously accepts award

During the event, Savannah Guthrie wore a black lace gown for the event. Tom Hanks presented her with the Caregiver Champion Award. The legend mentioned Savannah’s work with military caregivers. Savannah choked back tears as she shared a passionate speech.

“Every person here tonight, every caregiver and veteran at home, you are showing the world what love looks like, what love acts like, what love gives, and what love sacrifices,” Savannah Guthrie said in her speech, which you can view here on Instagram. “It is the love of country that calls our service members to duty. And it is love that propels mothers and fathers, spouses, siblings, children — to hold them and care for them when they return, with wounds seen, and unseen.”

The NBC News correspondent concluded her message with a shoutout to the military caregivers. Savannah assured them that they “inspire” her on a daily basis. She wishes to “live up” to their “example.” Savannah called them the true “heroes” as she received applause from the audience.

As a result, Savannah Guthrie was missing from the Thursday, October 20th broadcast of the Today Show. However, her co-hosts couldn’t be any happier about her latest achievement. Co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin explained her absence to the viewers at home. They said it was well-deserved.

Savannah Guthrie traveled to Washington, D.C. to the gala. This came shortly after her big return to the big desk. She debuted a new look, which included black-framed glasses. The Today Show took to Twitter to share the news of Savannah’s top honor.

Savannah Guthrie shared that the gala raised money for a great cause. This comes after she nominated Hoda for Forbes‘ “50 Over 50” list. Hoda ended up making the list. The two co-hosts took part in a joint interview for the publication.
