Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos revealed their big scheme to become a couple. This took place during a previous broadcast of Live With Kelly and Ryan. At the time, Mark Consuelos filled in for co-host Ryan Seacrest, who got COVID-19 for the first time. They decided it was a good time to share the story of when they first said those three little words to each other.

When Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos fell in love

During a recent broadcast of Live With Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Ripa and Mark talked about the time they joined forces to become a couple. Mark found out that it was National “I Love You Day.” Kelly asked him if he recalls the first time that he told her he loved her.

Mark remembered it well. So, they decided to share that story with the viewers at home. At first, they weren’t sure if they wanted to “get into it” since it revealed their big scheme to become a couple. The moment took place at the Daytime Emmys, which they both attended with their dates. Mark brought his sister because he didn’t have a date.

Kelly Ripa was still with her boyfriend at the time. She reminded him that the first woman he wanted to bring “broke up” with him. She revealed that Mark had another choice, but she didn’t get to finish her sentence. Mark interrupted Kelly and said he was “madly in love with her” at the time, but it was “complicated.”

The Riverdale star was “trying to be respectful” of her relationship. He admitted that something came over him after they had several glasses of champagne. Kelly noted they were all sitting together in a row. Mark noted that he found the perfect way to make it clear he was in love with her. He looked Kelly directly in the eyes and said, “Would you like another glass of champagne? I love you.”

Kelly Ripa confirmed it was a true story. That’s exactly how she remembered it. When he said this to her, she was confused and started sweating. Mark repeated what he said before. Kelly said they were trying to set his sister up with her boyfriend so they could become a couple. They celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in May 2022.

Riverdale star is getting “attention on the street”

This comes after Kelly Ripa joked that Mark is getting “attention on the street” after the release of her new book, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories. Her memoir landed on The New York Times Best Sellers list. Unfortunately, it’s been overshadowed by her feud with Kathie Lee Gifford over the portrayal of her work relationship with the late Regis Philbin.

In another broadcast, Kelly Ripa told Mark that he’s been “getting attention on the street.” He didn’t know what she was talking about. Mark tried to change the subject. The actor wanted to congratulate his wife on becoming a New York Times bestselling author for two straight weeks.
