The Harry PotterJames Bond, and Cracker star’s agent confirmed to Deadline that the actor was dead. According to the report from the outlet, Robbie Coltrane passed away at a hospital located near his home in Larbert, Scotland. The actor had reportedly been in poor health for the last two years.

While he had many titles on his resume, Robbie Coltrane became iconically known for his role as the gentle giant Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series. His line, “You’re a wizard, Harry” will play on repeat in Harry Potter fans’ heads forever.

In 1950, Robbie Coltrane was born Anthony Robert McMillan. In his early 20s, he adopted his stage name, Coltrane. His stage name was a tribute to the jazz saxophonist named, John Coltrane.

In addition to Harry Potter, he also created a name for himself in the James Bond films titled GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough. In these two films, he stepped into the shoes of Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky. Valentin was a former KGB operative that turned into an ally for Agent 007.

Presently, there hasn’t been much information revealed regarding the actor’s cause of death. However, most are assuming his death is connected to the past two years of his health declining. Furthermore, the reports surrounding exactly what health ailment he was suffering from were a bit cryptic with any details regarding what was wrong with him.
