Jeopardy! fans are unhappy with how the show is being taped. They feel that it is filmed too far in advance. Therefore, the clues do not always align with current events. Essentially they are not time-sensitive so viewers have started to believe they are watching reruns. Such is the case with a recent episode. This caused fans to lash out as they did not know if they were watching something new, as they had hoped, or a repeat. Read on for more details.

A Poorly Timed Jeopardy! Clue

According to The Sun, a recently aired episode had actually been recorded back in September. A lot can change in a month which those in pop culture know about. One particular instance involved tennis star Roger Federer and his retirement. He revealed he was leaving the game back in September. Therefore, when this clue was shown, viewers assumed they were seeing a repeat of when this announcement had initially occurred.

They soon took to Twitter to air their grievances. “That Federer clue shows how far back #Jeopardy episodes are taped,” one tweeted. Another piggybacked with this: “I searched latest jeopardy tweets because I heard that and was wondering if I had a rerun on.” That was followed up by a viewer adding: “Understandable. The clue was very awkward given recent events. Federer’s retirement did come out of the blue, but they should avoid clues about possible future events.”

A Series Of Mishaps

Since Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik have taken over co-hosting duties on Jeopardy!, it has not run quite so smoothly. There have been times when the hosts have accepted un legible answers. Plus, viewers are not keen on some of the changes that have been made since the passing of Alex Trebek. They wish the show had stayed the same in many ways. Furthermore, fans are not totally on board with Celebrity Jeopardy! which airs Sundays.

Hosted by Mayim Bialik, it has yet to be well-received and the producers know this. “Episode two of Celebrity Jeopardy! [in particular], I think we’d characterize that as one of the more polarizing episodes at least I’ve been involved with,” producer Mike Davies shared. The biggest issue is that it is a tournament. Some fans believe it should not have been such and should have been shorter episodes. Yet, they seem to be learning as they go.

For now, Jennings will host the nightly show until January when Bialik will take over. Do you think that Jeopardy! should avoid certain clues to not appear as if the show is taped far in advance? More so, do you ever feel like you are watching repeats? Plus, what do you think of Celebrity Jeopardy!? Let us know in the comments below.
