‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’ Gives Hollows Scary Makeover
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has introduced a very interesting storyline for fans by giving the Hollows a scary new look. The series was on an indefinite hiatus since March 2012 despite the fact that it was one of the biggest anime. After more than a decade, the series has now returned and fans are excited to learn how the story pans out.
Where Can Fans Watch Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War?
The series debuted in Japan on October 11, 2022, and outside of Japan on October 10, 2022, due to the time-zone difference. It was earlier expected that the series would premiere on Funimation or Crunchyroll given the fact that the previous seasons were on these platforms. The latest Blood War Arc focuses on a new villain known as the Wandenreich. It is a Quincy family brand that seeks revenge from the Soul Society which plays a big part in the new season’s title. Although the Wandenreichs will be the primary focus of Ichigo and his friends, the premiere episode did dive into something else as well.

The makers took a chance to reintroduce the Hollows in the storyline but this time they are far scarier than fans saw before. Even though the protagonists aren’t threatened by these supernatural beings anymore, their new and reformed look might surely scare viewers.
What Are Hollows In The Bleach Anime World?
For the unversed, Hollows aren’t monsters by birth. They were actually humans that died but their souls couldn’t pave the way to the afterlife. Instead, they are hanging around on Earth which eventually transforms them into different monstrous sizes and shapes. Throughout Bleach’s history, there have been several classes and types of these creatures.

In the earlier days of the anime, these monsters did pack a punch and dominated the storyline. However, as Ichigo and his friends gathered new abilities and powers that added to their strength, the Hollows were no more a threat. They became more of a nuisance.
However, in the premiere episode, they seemed more terrifying, especially when seen through the Shinigami rookies’ eyes.
Ichigo & His Companions Have To Tackle A New Villian
Earlier in the series, the Soul Society also faced Arrancar that are a variant of Hollows that Ichigo and his team faced. These are the Hollows that got the ability to tear off their masks and become something similar to the individuals from the Soul Society. Apart from the regular Hollows seen in the premiere episode, another new villain named Ebern is seen before Ichigo. However, it looks like he is wearing an Arrancar mask. This makes Wandenreich’s origin way more mysterious.

Although Ichigo and his companions easily dispatched the Hollows, their initial confrontation helped denote how scary these beings can be when presented the right way.
