Shueisha Huge Announcement About ‘Hunter x Hunter’ Manga

Japanese manga publishing company Shueisha has great news for Hunter x Hunter manga lovers. Written by Yoshihiro Togashi, the manga is serialized by Weekly Shonen Jump in both English and Japanese language since March 16, 1998. At present, the manga has a total of 36 volumes which has also inspired several anime movies, TV series, OVAs, and even video games. However, the manga had been on an indefinite hiatus since November 2018 for nearly four years.

Shueisha Confirms The Manga’s Return With English Edition

As officially announced by Shueisha, the manga is returning with the 47th issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump on October 27. Additionally, Viz Media confirmed that an English edition of the manga series will be simultaneously published on October 23. Previous chapters from the manga will also be available on the magazine’s digital vault.

Shueisha also shared a preview of the upcoming 37th volume of the manga. Although the manga will release in October, it will be shipped on November 4. As per Anime News Network, the upcoming manga volume comprises 10 chapters that haven’t yet been published in a compiled volume format.

Back in May, Togashi commented on the manga stating that he has already finished the rough drafts for 10 chapters.

Hunter x Hunter Manga Volume 37 Will Have 10 Chapters

Typically, one Hunter x Hunter manga comprises roughly 10 chapters, the first volume had six chapters. Ever since then the creator has been teasing the progress of the manga in the magazine to keep the readers engaged. However, he hadn’t yet revealed the date when the new volume would be out until now.

The 36th volume of the Hunter x Hunter manga was compiled in October 2018. After this Viz Media released it in North America in August 2019. The manga received an anime adaptation the very next year after the release of its first chapter. However, the series ended on March 31, 2001, with just 62 episodes.

Hunter x Hunter Inspired Two Anime TV Series

Again in 2011, another anime series was released with a total of 148 episodes. The finale episode happened on September 24, 2014. This second anime adaptation retold the manga story from the beginning. The anime series was licensed by Crunchyroll.

Nippon Television Network’s official synopsis of the story reads:

“Gon Freecss is a young boy living on Whale Island. He learns from “Hunter” Kite, that his father, who he was told was dead, is still alive somewhere as a top “Hunter,” risking his life to seek unknown items, such as hidden treasures, curiosa, exotic living creatures, etc. Gon decides to become a professional Hunter and leaves the island. To become a Hunter, he must pass the Hunter Examination, where he meets and befriends three other applicants: Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua. Can Gon pass this formidable hurdle, the Hunter Examination, to become “the Best Hunter in the World” and eventually meet his father?”
