Tragic breaking news for Disney fans as Angela Lansbury, the voice of Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, has been confirmed dead at the age of 96. Just a few years shy of turning 100, the iconic actress had a widely impressive resume landing her first acting gig back in 1944 when she was only in her 20s. This legendary actress stole the hearts of several generations as she perfectly played a variety of roles including a singing teapot, a murderous baker, a small-town sleuth, a Soviet spy, and a wealth of other characters.

According to NBC News, Angela Lansbury’s family confirmed she passed away at the age of 96 today (Tuesday, October 11th, 2022).

Angela Lansbury Dead At 96

Per a saddening statement issued by her family, the late actress passed away on Tuesday morning. The statement reveals the actress died just days before her 97th birthday. Angela Lansbury’s family took peace of mind in knowing the actress died peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her own home in Los Angeles.

The official statement from the family reads: “The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 AM today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday.”

Not only did Angela Lansbury wow multiple generations with her incredible acting skills, but she also won many awards for her talents including five Tony Awards. Her most recently Tony Award was received in 2009 as best featured actress in a play for her part in Noel Coward’s “Blithe Spirit.”

In addition to voicing the role of the beloved Mrs. Potts, she also sang Beauty and the Beast in the original film.

Rest in peace, Angela Lansbury. Hearts of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast fans everywhere are mourning this tragic loss.
