SNL (Saturday Night Live) Season 48, Episode 2 premiered this past weekend. While viewers found some of the skits hilarious, one specific act crossed a line. Now, fans want to cancel the show over these questionable jokes. Keep reading for all of the details about what happened.
Saturday Night Live covers Try Guys
In Saturday’s episode, one of the skits covered the recent Try Guys drama. The Try Guys are a group of YouTubers that’s pretty well-known online. But recently, the news broke that one of the four Try Guys had been having an affair. The YouTube group has eight million subscribers and their channel has been around since 2014. So, it’s a big deal to their fans.
The one who cheated, Ned Fulmer, eventually issued a statement, as did the three other Try Guys, Zach Kornfeld, Keith Habersberger, and Eugene Lee Yang. The public and the other three Try Guys were shocked and disappointed by the news.
In the Saturday, October 8 episode of SNL, there was a skit about the whole ordeal. The skit included host Brendan Gleeson and cast member Ego Nwodim. These two played the roles of a CNN correspondent and anchor. While they were initially supposed to cover news from the White House, they received breaking news about the Try Guys drama.
Saturday Night Live stars Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, and Bowen Yang played the roles of Keith, Zach, and Eugene. In the skit, the three guys mocked the Try Guys’ emotional video about the whole cheating scandal. SNL was poking fun at how serious the guys’ YouTube video was and teased that it took priority over the important world news.
SNL viewers react
On Instagram, the skit was reposted on the show’s profile and viewers are not happy about it. In a comment, one viewer pointed out that this was executed poorly. They said, “Could’ve done this in a way that didn’t completely misconstrue the situation…”
Viewers also took to Twitter to express their feelings. One called the skit “tasteless.” Others online are saying it was “insensitive” and a “low blow.”
the one time men hold men accountable, and they're mocked. that snl skit was tasteless #tryguys

Some SNL viewers are even calling for the show to be canceled, as you can see in the tweet below.
Can we cancel SNL already? Making a skit, trying to be like "look is cheating really so bad?" poking fun at people having a real emotional reaction? It's not funny, it's not cute.
