After having a rough few years, Peta Murgatroyd was so excited to return as a pro dancer on Dancing With The Stars. She performed in Season 29 but sat out Season 30. Her fans and castmates were happy to welcome her back.

However, Peta’s big return didn’t last very long. She and her partner Jason Lewis performed one routine and then were sent home at the end of the first night of DWTS Season 31.

Jason’s time in the ballroom may be over, but Peta’s isn’t. She is still in opening numbers and takes part in smaller, “filler” dances while the remaining competitors get ready for their turn.

Although Peta took her elimination like a champ, she admitted that it did sting a little. Keep reading to see what the dancer had to say.

Peta Murgatroyd was not ready to leave the competition quite yet

Pro dancer Peta Murgatroyd and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy have been having a rough time in their personal lives. They really want to have another child, but are struggling with fertility issues at the moment. Over the summer, they tried IVF for the first time. Sadly, Peta revealed that the treatments didn’t work. She opted to return to DWTS this fall as a chance to heal and emotionally recover. And that’s precisely why fans wish she could have stayed in the competition a little longer.

The Sun had a chance to sit down with the 36-year-old dancer and asked about her thoughts on the elimination.

“It really sucked,” Peta told the publication. “I really did want to continue with Jason and go all the way, especially coming back after almost a two-year break, but it just didn’t work out. Getting out first was definitely not what I was expecting. Jason is a really kind human being and I think the world of him and I wish we had more time together.”

The judges opted to save Pasha Pashkov and Teresa Giudice, who ultimately went home the following week. However, Peta isn’t bitter about it. She admitted the judges made the right decision because she believed Pasha and Teresa made fewer mistakes.

Dancing With The Stars Season 31 continues for another week

Getting eliminated is never fun, but only one couple can win at the end of the season. Tomorrow night, the remaining 13 couples will go head to head and one more couple will leave.

Dancing With The Stars will present Disney+ Night starting tomorrow at 8 PM eastern time. Fans can catch Peta and the other pro dancers presenting the opening number, which will be Encanto-themed.

Tune in and don’t forget to vote for your favorite competitors! You won’t want to miss out on a fun, action-packed night.
