Carlin Bates Shares Interesting Secret With Fans

Evan Stewart and Carlin Bates answer fans’ questions

In their newest YouTube video, which premiered on Saturday, Carlin and her husband, Evan Stewart had a little Q&A session. They used the questions they received from fans via Instagram and discussed a number of topics. As we reported, the couple talked about their plans for future kids amid Carlin’s health issues.

They touched on many more topics as well, including potty training Layla, Evan’s career as an electrician, upcoming camping trips, and more.

What’s the Bringing Up Bates star’s secret?

Along the way, Carlin Bates shared something that fans may not have known before. One Bringing Up Bates fan asked the couple if they know how to speak French.

In response, Evan says, “You tell me.”

Then, he jests, “Oui. Oui croissant.” Oui means “yes” in French.

Carlin Bates laughs at her husband’s joke and then chimes in and says, “No, but I can speak pig Latin. It’s not really a language.”

Evan calls it a “made-up language.”

Carlin Bates’ husband then tells an interesting story about pig Latin and says, “Her sisters used it to talk about me when we were dating because I couldn’t understand it.” 

Carlin says he “used to get so mad.” Then, he adds that he was able to “slowly understand it.”

Pig Latin isn’t a real language and works by simply altering existing words. Dictionary.com describes pig Latin as follows:

“a form of language, used especially by children, that is derived from ordinary English by moving the first consonant or consonant cluster of each word to the end of the word and adding the sound (ā), as in eakspay igpay atinlay for ‘speak pig Latin.'”
