Netflix’s ‘Hard Cell’ Season 2: Canceled Or Renewed?
Starring Catherine Tate in a range of characters, Hard Cell premiered on April 12, 2022, on Netflix and immediately impressed the fans with its mockumentary-style narration. Developed by Leopard Pictures, the show is set in a women’s prison where Catherine appears in multiple roles namely Big Viv, Laura, Ange, Ros, Anne Marie, & Marco. Given how interesting the show’s premise is, fans are now wondering if the show has been renewed for a second season.
Hard Cell’s Catherine Tate Appeared On BBC’s Doctor Who
Fans who are familiar with Tate, know her for her exceptional work in the BBC series The Catherine Tate Show. She is also known for her appearance in The Office Seasons 8 & 9. The 54-year-old has also been a part of the BBC show Doctor Who as one of the Doctor’s several companions.

So, will Hard Cell be renewed for Season 2?
Well, the series hasn’t received an official renewal. With a total of 6 episodes in the first season, it’s been several months that the series hasn’t seen any decision regarding its probable future. However, it isn’t a surprise given the fact that this has been the case for most debut comedy series this year.
Hard Cell Season 1 Was A Hit Among Fans But Not The Critics
Although the series was a hit among fans with an audience score of 89% on RottenTomatoes, it didn’t hit the mark with critics with a 20% score. On IMDb, the show flaunts a 6.3/10 rating. However, this is based on less than 2000 viewers’ reviews.

Fans have been speculating that the show has quietly been canceled. So, it is unlikely that the viewers will get to hear anything about the show’s future. While the show’s global data wasn’t promising, one might wonder how it fared in the United Kingdom.
As per What’s On Netflix, the series has scored a total of 28 points in the top 10 list. Additionally, the show also featured in the UK TV top 10 lists for a total of 7 days. This ranking for such a short time period doesn’t look strong for Hard Cell.
Netflix’s Hard Cell Doesn’t Rank Close To Other British Comedy
When compared to other British comedy series, the show gets even weaker. Starring Rowan Atkinson, Man vs. Bee comedy miniseries amassed a total of 102 points. It even featured in 87 countries’ top 10 list and in the UK, it ranked in the top 10s for 17 days.

Additionally, Netflix’s popular show, Sex Education scored a whopping 318 points. It ranked in Netflix UK’s top 10 list for a total of 47 days. So, it is doubtful whether the show will be back for another season.
