Why Are ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ Fans Disgusted With Spin-Off?

Fans Complain Celebrity Jeopardy! Was Painful To Watch
On the Sunday episode, singer Reggie Watts, comedian Iliza Shlesinger, and chef/author Eddie Huang took the show to another level, but not a good one. Fans complained that the spinoff series was painful to watch as the celebrity contestants struggled to answer what seemed like basic questions.

In a segment, the contestants were asked to name the 540-foot-tall Paris landmark replica located in the Las Vegas hotel. Eddie chimed in with an incorrect answer, ‘The Statue Of Liberty’ while Iliza simply said, ‘Paris.’ As per The Sun, Reggie’s answer was the right one as he said, ‘Tour Eiffel.’
Host Mayim couldn’t hold back her laughter at Eddie’s answer and ultimately gave the point to Reggie for answering correctly and in French.
Jeopardy! Fans Compare The Spinoff With SNL
However, viewers felt that the celebrity contestants weren’t prepared to be a part of the show.
One disappointed fan tweeted, “This was one of the most awkward segments in recent #Jeopardy history.”

Even the Reddit community shared their opinion on the matter as one user wrote, “This is the most SNLesque Jeopardy! game I’ve ever seen.”
“It’s painful to watch. I don’t remember previous versions of Celebrity Jeopardy being like this,” wrote another.
Celebrity Contestants Mock Former Jeopardy! Winner Austin
Viewers were even enraged by the fact that the celebrities made fun of former Jeopardy! winner Austin Rogers who had a cameo on the show to ask questions related to cocktails.
They wrote, “I thought it was so DISRESPECTFUL and CLASSLESS for the celebs to make fun of the incredible Austin Rogers the way they did.”
“Austin is definitely eccentric, but he presented the clues really well, so I don’t even know how he could be labeled as ‘weird’ from that,” they concluded.
Not just that, contestant Eddie, was also slammed by viewers for keeping his sunglasses on at all times. They even claimed that he was disrespecting the late Alex Trebek’s legacy.

Celebrity Jeopardy!’s premiere episode featured Andy Richter, Simu Liu, and Ego Nwodim as the celeb contestants. In a spectacular finish, Simu was victorious after trailing way behind Andy for the most part of the game. Andy answered most of the questions but in the end, Simu answered the final one correctly while doubling his earnings. This allowed him to ultimately win the game. However, viewers criticized the makers that the questions being asked to the celebrities were way too easy.

Terrible show.
Couldn’t agree more. On the last episode Patton Oswalt was playing by himself and at one point appeared to have stopped buzzing in as not to look like the total route it was.
Not impressed and might not continue to watch.
Mayim Bialik, as host, brings nothing to the show. The celebrities do not seem to take the game seriously, hamming it up on answering what are some fairly easy questions.
