Michael Bates Receives Invasive Infertility Question, Fans Appalled
Former Bringing Up Bates star Michael Bates Keilen recently allowed fans to send in questions via social media. She took the time to answer some of them and opened up about a variety of topics. Due to Michael’s ongoing infertility issues, a few of the questions touched on that sensitive topic.
After reading one of the questions Michael received, however, fans were totally shocked. Keep reading for all of the details.
Bringing Up Bates fans know that Michael and her husband, Brandon Keilen, are still hoping to conceive. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to due to infertility issues. They have shared a little bit about their journey, though they have recently decided to navigate it more privately.

In a recent Q&A session on her Instagram page, Michael Bates did accept and respond to a couple of infertility questions. One fan asked, “Do you get sad hanging with your nieces/nephews knowing you can’t have your own kids?”
Michael responded and said that there is some heartbreak in this. But she then explained that getting to spend time with her nieces and nephews is “one of the most healing gifts.”
Bringing Up Bates fans are appalled by this response.
Over on Reddit, fans are discussing the question above. And many of them are urging other fans to stop asking such insensitive questions. Bringing Up Bates fans called the question rude, mean, and nasty. They believe it crossed a line.
One fan said, “Disgusting to ask someone that !! Not our business even if we wanna know.”
Another added, “I am shocked somebody had the audacity to ask this question. Whomever did this is flat out cruel and meanspirited.”
One Reddit user speculated that this question was asked to intentionally hurt Michael’s feelings.
Others, however, are wondering why Michael Bates would choose to answer something like this. She likely picked and chose a select few questions to answer. She’s not obligated to respond to them all and likely receives far more questions than she can answer in a day.
Maybe Michael herself wasn’t bothered by this question. Fans are certainly concerned about how she might have been impacted by it though.
