Kaley Cuoco Didn’t Hide Crush On ‘BBT’ Co-Star Johnny Galecki
Kaley Cuoco is currently one of the most in-demand actresses. She just starred in the Pete Davidson rom-com, Meet Cute. Furthermore, she has garnered Emmy nods for her role in HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant. Prior to this, she became a household name on 8 Simple Rules and then the role of a lifetime came along. She was cast as Penny in The Big Bang Theory and her life was forever changed. Yet, it was not just her professional life that was about to skyrocket. Kaley’s personal life would soon see a shift as she was introduced to her new co-star Johnny Galecki. Read on to find out how it was “like at first sight” for Cuoco.
Kaley Cuoco Shares Falling For Galecki
A new oral history of TBBT is being recorded so the cast is contributing different moments, highlights, and memories, according to People. At one point, Kaley opened up about having a crush on Johnny, now 47. She had these feelings soon into filming the series, which ran for twelve seasons. “He has such swagger. We were both dating people at the time, but I only had eyes for Johnny. Then, when I found out he had eyes for me too, I was like, Uh‑oh, this is going to be trouble.”
As for Johnny, he recounts what his feelings were like for Kaley, eleven years his junior. Admittedly, he had no idea that Kaley was even flirting with him. He was completely in the dark that she was crushing on him until they actually started a serious relationship. Fortunately, their characters, Penny and Leonard were awkwardly working on getting together. So, that allowed the actors to start building a foundation. It even gave them the chance to have their first kiss.
“I was very nervous with both [our onscreen and real-life first kisses]. I mean, I was kissing him as Penny before we ever dated, and it’s weird when you have a crush on someone and you’re kissing them as actors,” Kaley shared. Eventually, Galecki asked Kaley out for drinks and the two could not stop kissing. She wanted to shout it from the rooftops but he was a bit more low-key. The two ended up dating for two years after that.
All Good Things…
Though they did not make it as a couple, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny have maintained a very happy friendship. She feels that a lot of what viewers saw on screen is how they really are. “We’ve always had each other’s backs, and you can’t lose that. And I do think it happened on-screen. It made our relationship funny and endearing,” according to the actress. Galecki went on to date Alaina Meyer and the two share a son. However, they have since separated. As for Kaley, she was married to Ryan Sweeting but that ended in divorce. She moved on with Karl Cook but that sadly has also ended in divorce. Now, she is dating Ozark actor Tommy Pelphrey.
