Some ‘DWTS’ Fans Sour On Alfonso Ribeiro After Elvis Night
Alfonso Ribeiro is back in the ballroom as the newest host of Dancing With The Stars. Most viewers believe he’s a great addition to the show and brings his own creative flair to the stage. However, not every viewer is happy with his presence.
During the Elvis Night episode that aired last Monday, several fans think he crossed boundaries. But what exactly went wrong?
Alfonso Ribeiro creates an uncomfortable situation in the ballroom
Many dancers experience intense chemistry with their celebrity partners on Dancing With The Stars. These “showmances” keep fans interested and give viewers plenty to look forward to week after week. This year, many fans have their eyes on Hallmark actor Trevor Donovan and his pro partner, the newly single Emma Slater.
Emma was married to her fellow pro dancer Sasha Farber for four years. They even got engaged after a live performance on the show. Sadly, they announced their split over the summer. For now, it seems like the two are still on friendly terms and they don’t seem to be in a hurry to make their divorce official.
Sasha and Emma are living as single people now, but that doesn’t make the situation with Trevor Donovan easy. It’s one thing for fans at home to gossip about the steamy chemistry — it’s another for the show’s host to officially comment on it.
“Now clearly you are over the fear of dancing, but the chemistry between you two, now I just gotta know: are those your acting skills or is that real?” Alfonso Ribeiro asked after the pair performed an incredibly sensual routine. Emma appeared somewhat mortified while Trevor scrambled to find his words.
Several fans at home weren’t happy about the situation, prompting Alfonso to go on defense after the episode aired.
The DWTS host scrambles to defend himself after the awkward situation
According to Alfonso Ribeiro, he was just joking about Emma and Trevor. The joke just didn’t land well with audience members.
“I knew nothing was happening [between Emma and Trevor] because she was at my house for my birthday. I talk to Sasha, like I’m aware of everything going on,” the 51-year-old actor said on Sway’s Universe. “And then America was like ‘That was rude because her husband is right there.’ I was like ‘That was a joke. We were playing. Aww, dang.'”
