The third episode of the latest installment of the Great British Bake Off has some fans upset. Week three is bread week, something many viewers look forward to. However, many people are floored by the massive mishap in the episode. Keep reading to see what they are talking about.

Two Bakers Sit Out For Bread Week

Episode three of the Great British Bake Off was missing two competitors. Both Rebs and Abdul sat out during bread week because they were feeling under the weather. Several fans pointed out that it seemed convenient to miss such a challenging week on the show.

“To be fair to Rebs and Abdul, I would have pulled a sicky for Bread Week too,” one viewer tweeted. Others mentioned how it seemed unfair. Rebs and Abdul essentially get a free pass into next week.

Those comments set aside, co-host Noel Fielding said that they hope the two bakers will return to compete during week four. The two missing bakers weren’t the only thing viewers weighed in on though.

Great British Bake Off Challenges Seem Inappropriate

Bread week is usually a fan favorite because it is one of the most challenging weeks in the competition. Paul Hollywood, GBBO judge and bread king himself, makes every baker sweat as he’s tasting their bread and they wait for his verdict.

This season’s bread week was a disappointment for many viewers though. Not only were two of the bakers not present for the episode, but people feel as though the bakers got off easily.

Each episode of the Great British Bake Off requires bakers to complete three challenges: a signature bake, a technical challenge, and a showstopper presentation. Usually, the challenges during bread week are quite difficult. This season’s bread tasks didn’t seem to fit the bill at all though.

The challenges include making a pizza for the signature, a classic pastry for the technical, and a sandwich cake called a smorgastarta for their showstoppers. Many fans took to Twitter to express their confusion over the choice of challenges.

“It’s bread week, why are they making pastry?” one person asked on Twitter. Several others agreed that Pan Aux Raisin is not bread and should not have been included during bread week.

Between the pastry assignment during bread week and two bakers out sick, the Great British Bake Off seemed to be in chaos this week. Episode 3 was released on Channel 4 in Britain on Tuesday and will be available to stream on Netflix Friday. Are you watching this season? Let us know what you think so far in the comments!
