Camila Cabello Reveals How She Joined ‘The Voice’
The Voice returned to NBC this week for Season 22 and there was a brand-new coach in Camila Cabello. Much like Ariana Grande last season, there are many older fans who don’t like her addition to the cast. Yet, the idea is to bring in someone to lure in younger viewers, and Camila is a good choice.
With the show back, the coaches have been doing interviews about the new season and Camila talked to Billboard about joining the show. She let them know how it all came to be.
Camila Cabello on joining The Voice
Camila Cabello comes into this season on The Voice as the youngest in the show’s history. However, she also has experience that none of the other coaches have. Much like Kelly Clarkson, Camila knows what it is like to be on the other side of the equation. Kelly won the first season of American Idol and Camila finished in third place on The X Factor as part of Fifth Harmony.
Now, she is a coach on The Voice, competing against Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend. Camila also is trying to do what Ariana Grande couldn’t do last season. She wants to help bring her millions of fans to The Voice and put together a team that competes in the finals. Ariana couldn’t help raise ratings and she didn’t have a single singer in the finals.
As for how she ended up on The Voice, Camila said the show reached out to her. Last season, she showed up as a mentor, and this gave her a chance to add her name to the list of great coaches from the past. Camila said that the show called her and she considered it fulfilling since it was “full circle” from how she became famous. She also said she wanted to come on because it was an “equal opportunity” show and had nothing to do with money or prior success. Anyone could win.
Camila’s team so far
Camila Cabello proved from the first episode that she wouldn’t let Blake Shelton intimidate her. There was a lot of humor in the premiere, with Blake muting Camila’s mic, but she made sure she said what she needed to in order to convince singers to come with her. Some fans might have felt she talked a little too much.
However, heading into Week 2, Camila has some good singers on her team. These include the immensely talented Morgan Myles, who got a four-chair turn. She also picked up Orlando Mendez, Reina Ley, Devix, and Chello. With five people already on her team, she has more than any other judge so far.
