‘DWTS’ Set Reportedly Dealing With COVID-19 Outbreak
Since the pandemic began, DWTS has done everything it can to keep having a show while protecting the cast and crew. Last year, contestants Cheryl Burke and Cody Rigsby caught COVID-19 and had to perform virtually for a few weeks. This year, apparently there is another outbreak onset.
What exactly happened and will any contestants have to sit out? Keep reading to find out what happened.
A DWTS spokesperson allegedly confirmed there have been COVID-19 cases on the set
Since the pandemic started, Dancing With The Stars has had some level of COVID-19 restrictions on set. They get a little more lenient each and every year, but there are still certain protocols the participants and crew members have to follow. This year, each couple is in a “pod” with another couple.
However, many of the cast members are still spending a lot of time together. The DWTS Instagram page posted this fun shot some of the contestants took together on opening night.
Deadline reports that they spoke with a spokesperson for Dancing With The Stars who confirmed there were cases on the set. However, the spokesperson said that the crew members who tested positive all work in completely separate departments.
“Contact tracing was immediately conducted. All close contacts were notified and put on an increased testing cadence. No close contact of the four positive production employees has since tested positive,” the spokesperson reportedly told the publication. They also stated that the entire set had been disinfected. Employees who could work remotely had been requested to stay home for the time being.
The good news is that it seems like most, if not all, the Season 31 contestants and their partners will be in the ballroom on Monday night.
The show must go on
DWTS Season 31 has definitely been exciting for many viewers. Although many fans are disappointed that Disney+ is the only way for fans to turn in, others are so excited about the new direction the show has gone in.
TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and her partner Mark Ballas ended up taking home the highest score of the night. Many viewers believe they’ll be among the top contenders to watch this year.
Sadly, Peta Murgatroyd and Jason Lewis said goodbye at the end of the first night. No one likes to leave the show, but there can only be one winner at the end of the season.
As long as DWTS keeps COVID-19 contained, it seems like there will be plenty of new content and performances for viewers to enjoy.
