GMA: Rob Marciano’s family suffers heartbreaking loss

Rob Marciano penned a beautiful and heartbreaking tribute to his dog Sunny on Instagram during the second week of September. He noted that Sunny was the “sweetest” and “smartest” pup. He added that he only got to be with Sunny for five years. “Sunny was my very first dog, and my very best friend. I’m crushed.”

Rob Marciano attached tons of gorgeous photos of Sunny to his tribute as he proceeded to explain what happened to Sunny and how she passed away.

Three weeks ago Sunny became lethargic, she starting hobbling. We thought it was Lyme. We were wrong. It was cancer. Pancreas, liver, and lungs. It was aggressive. Our sweet Sunny was dying. Unexpected, devastating diagnosis for a 8-9 year old mixed breed.

The GMA anchor proceeded to get relatable with anyone who followed him and happened to know the tragic pain of having to put their dog down.

He continued to pen in his heartbreaking tribute: “Their innocence and unconditional love is unmatched. Not being able to know exactly what they’re feeling is paralyzing. Watching them take their last breath at your hand is beyond heartbreaking.”

Rob revealed that Sunny was a rescue dog, but she was the one that did the rescuing. He noted that she rescued him before admitting that part of his soul died with her that day.

  1. Speaking from experience, time is a great healer although one never forgets. I lost my buddy of 18 years to cancer.
Now, I sleep with his ashes under my pillow so I keep him near! His photo is on my bed stand.
