‘DWTS’: Gleb Savchenko Dishes On Working With Shangela
During his time on Dancing With The Stars, Gleb Savchenko has had a wide range of different partners. But Season 31 is different. This year, Gleb will compete with drag performer Shangela. She’s the first DWTS contestant to ever compete in drag. Fans all over the world love Shangela for her larger-than-life personality and the joy she brings everywhere she goes.

Gleb Savchenko says it’s an honor to work with Shangela this year
Gleb Savchenko hasn’t won a Mirrorball Trophy yet. But this could be his year. He’s over the moon about competing with Shangela and can’t wait to show the audience what they’ve come up with.
“I’ve never danced with a male partner before,” Gleb Savchenko told E! in a recent interview, “and it’s definitely different, but in a good way. I actually enjoy our rehearsals, a lot more than I’ve enjoyed rehearsing in previous seasons.”
The Russian dancer has been sharing fun photos from the rehearsal room with Shangela, who practices out of drag.
“We’ve never had anyone like Shangela,” Gleb went on to say “So it’s going to be extra, extra, extra special. In the rehearsal room, Shangela’s not fully glammed up, so that change in the ballroom is going to be pretty awesome, to see the whole package.”
Likewise, Shangela couldn’t be happier to be part of the show this year.
“I’m the first person to ever be able to compete in drag on Dancing With The Stars in the history of the show here, so I hope that we show people that it’s all about the heart and soul of who you are as a person,” Shangela said during a DWTS press conference. “It doesn’t matter if it’s two men dancing together, if it’s a man or a drag entertainer like myself dancing together. It’s about the spirit of dance and the fun, and the ability to connect and to learn more about other people’s worlds.”
The pro dancer has a reputation for being a Lothario
DWTS fans love Gleb Savchenko, but he has a reputation for getting a little too up close and personal with his partners. Jana Kramer once competed on DWTS and her ex claims that she and Gleb were having an affair during the competition. Gleb came out and slammed those rumors, but many still believe that there’s some truth there. He’s also been rumored to have an affair with his Season 29 contestant, Chrishell Stause.
No one may ever know the full truth. Hopefully, Shangela will put Gleb in his place if he steps out of line this year.
