‘One Piece Film: Red’ Achieves Another Major Milestone
It seems like there is no stopping One Piece Film: Red as it shatters all box office records. The movie was released on August 6, 2022, and ever since has been topping the charts week over week. Within just over a month, the movie has been dubbed the highest-grossing film of 2022 in Japan. Its total earnings are more than 13.87 Billion Yen (approx $91 Million).
One Piece Film: Red Ranks Fourth In Fastest Tickets Sold
As outlined by Crunchyroll, this theatrical installment has successfully achieved several impressive milestones. Now that the movie is on its 38th day of release in the Japanese theaters, it has sold a whopping 10 million tickets. Currently, it is the 8th highest-grossing anime film in the history of Japanese movies. At the start, it was Sunghoo Park’s Jujutsu Kaisen O that had topped the charts with a total of 13.80 Billion Yen in Japan. However, One Piece Film: Red did cross this milestone, but a bit later. Not just that, Red is also the fourth-fastest movie to reach the 10 million ticket milestone.

Luffy Takes Interest In Red-Haired Pirate Shanks’ Daughter Uta
One Piece Film: Red is centered on the red-haired pirate Shanks’ daughter Uta. A diva and a world-famous singer, her voice has otherworldly capabilities with a capability to help uplift one’s mood. Although she kept her identity concealed for the most part of her career, she did reveal her true identity to the world while singing at her live concert. At the start, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates initially seem only interested in attending her concert.

However, they get more involved once they get to know that Uta is actually Shanks’ daughter & also Luffy’s friend from his childhood. In a recent trailer, it was revealed that Shanks abandoned his daughter while she was just a child. As per CBR.com, the movie also highlighted the devastating impact it had on her childhood that trailed into her youth as well.
One Piece Film: Red United States Release Date
In an interview, the movie’s General Producer, Shinji Shimizu explained Uta‘s journey through her singing. He said, “Uta goes through seven distinct emotional journeys and uses her songs to convey her complex emotions to the audience.”
The film, just like the anime series, was produced by Toei Animation with Goro Taniguchi as the director. Tsutomu Kuroiwa is the screenwriter for the series who is also known for lending his talent for One Piece Film: Gold. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece also serves as the executive producer for the latest movie.

Although the new movie isn’t yet available on any streaming service, fans can stream the anime series on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix. In the United States, the movie will release in the theaters on November 4, 2022.
