‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Shocked By Massive Payout On Celebrity Spinoff

Jeopardy! executives revealed several details about the upcoming celebrity spinoff. According to execs, the payoff is huge and there will be more A-listers present than ever. Keep reading to learn what mind-boggling amount of money the contestants stand to win on Celebrity Jeopardy! and who will appear this season.

Celebrity Jeopardy! Is Bigger Than Ever

Season 39 of the original installment of Jeopardy! premiered on September 12. Recently, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings were named permanent dual hosts, taking long-time host Alex Trebek’s place.

While people are relieved to finally know who will be hosting the show, many people have been waiting on news about the celebrity spinoff. Executive producers have finally started sharing information about what fans can expect in the upcoming Celebrity Jeopardy! 

EP Mike Davis and Sarah Foss, a “Clue Crew” member, shared the details on this week’s podcast episode of Inside Jeopardy! During the episode, the two shared that the cash prize will be bigger than ever and that viewers can expect to see 27 celebrities present. Of course, Mayim Bialik will be hosting.

The full list of 27 celebs has not been released yet, but two stars will return from previous seasons: Andy Richter and Aisha Tyler. Both contestants have played and won Jeopardy! in the past. Among the other celebrities that have been revealed thus far are Michael Cera, Simu Liu, Constance Wu, Iliza Shlesinger, Patton Oswalt, B.J. Novak, Candace Parker, and Ray Romano.

Davis and Foss both made comments that suggest they may reveal the other contestant names soon.

Will Andy Richter Win Celebrity Jeopardy!?

Unlike the daily Jeopardy! show, the celebrity installment will be on air for an hour. The schedule for the show includes three quarter-finals and a semifinal. As mentioned above, 27 celebrities will appear in this season’s contests. Even though all of the celebrities who are participating haven’t been revealed, people are already predicting who the winner will be.

Fans of the show are telling executive producers to go ahead and “sign the check now” for Richter. When it was announced that he would be returning for this season of Celebrity Jeopardy!, fans were ecstatic. “Andy Richter is coming back so Andy Richter is going to win Celebrity Jeopardy!one person wrote on Twitter.

Richter appeared on the show in 1999 and 2009. In his second appearance, he edged out Wolf Blitzer by $40,000, winning $68K total. At the time, it was the biggest prize to have been awarded on Celebrity Jeopardy! People who saw his performance then think he will be unstoppable this time around. Go ahead and “sign the check,” as one Twitter user said.

Each celeb will be competing in a three-round Jeopardy! tournament to win the $1 million grand prize during the season finale.
