‘DWTS’: Cheryl Burke & Ex Arguing Over One Prized Item
Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke is navigating a divorce right now. Many celebrity breakups can be messy, but it seems like she and her ex Matthew Lawrence are doing everything in their power to speed things along.
However, it appears that the two exes just can’t agree on how to split one very important asset. What is it that they both really want to keep? Read on to get the inside scoop.
Cheryl Burke & Matthew Lawrence are in the process of dividing the assets
Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke married actor Matthew Lawrence married on May 23, 2019. They seemed relatively happy together until they came forward with their split in early 2022. She even previously credited him with helping her with her sobriety.
Now, it seems like the couple just wants to move on and go their separate ways.
Yahoo! News reports that Matthew Lawrence and Cheryl Burke are going to abide by the prenup they signed before the wedding. Legal documents reveal that Cheryl is going to keep all of her royalties and earnings from DWTS and QVC. Boy Meets World actor Matthew Lawrence also gets to keep all of his own royalties.
The publication notes that the couple also waived their rights to spousal support, which means they’re going to have a pretty clean break financially.
However, there is some disagreement over the custody of their dog, Ysabella. Breaking up is difficult and things get every messier when pets or children are involved. Cheryl and Matthew don’t have any children, but they both dote on their little dog.
She was a gift from Matthew to Cheryl for their first wedding anniversary, which may make things a little complicated. The professional dancer often includes Ysa in her Instagram photos and it appears that the two are very close.
Fans hope the two can settle the situation amicably and do what’s best for Ysa.
The dancer teams up with a celebrity weatherman for DWTS Season 31
While the divorce continues, Cheryl is preparing to compete on Dancing With The Stars Season 31 with her latest partner, GMA weatherman Sam Champion. Fans really aren’t quite sure if they have a shot at the Mirrorball Trophy this year. Wayne Brady and Witney Carson are expected to be the frontrunners. But as fans saw last year, anything can happen at the end of the season. For now, fans will just have to sit tight and see what happens next.
