Jennifer Hudson is best known for her vocal talents. However, the star has started branching into daytime television more recently. It was announced that she was in negotiations for The Jennifer Hudson Show in November 2021 and fans have been waiting for further news. Producers have finally confirmed the premiere date. Here’s everything you need to know.
Daytime Television Is Changing
In recent years, there have been a number of changes to daytime TV. Much of this is due to the number of people who are streaming their television rather than watching it live. Several soap operas were taken off the air, long-time talk show hosts retired from their daily shows, new hosts were added, and now daytime television looks slightly different.
As daytime programming has changed, networks have been looking for new shows to fill the air time. More importantly, who is going to be the next big talk show host? Ellen Degeneres, Oprah, and even Wendy Williams have all retired from their hosting positions.
Jennifer Hudson may be the person to fill the gap. In November 2021, it was announced that Hudson was in negotiations for a talk show. Then it was confirmed in March that The Jennifer Hudson Show would, in fact, be premiering on Fox in the fall.

“People from around the world have been a part of my journey from the beginning 20 years ago,” she said in a statement about the upcoming show. “I’m so ready to join their journey as we sit down and talk about the things that inspire and move us all.” She continued to note that she is excited about sharing a more vulnerable part of herself with her audience.
Since then, viewers have been waiting to hear about when the show will premiere and what to expect.
When Does The Jennifer Hudson Show Premiere?
The Oscar-winning star revealed the premiere date for The Jennifer Hudson Show in an Instagram post in June. As it turns out, the debut episode of the talk show falls on Hudson’s 41st birthday.
She shared the flyer with the premiere date of the show and captioned the photo, “I can’t believe I get to say this but welcome to my show !!! ✨ Let’s light up daytime beginning September 12th! Wait a minute that’s my birthday !!!”
Earlier today, she posted a photo of herself outside the studio saying, “Today is the big day!!!”

Hudson’s talk show will be filmed in the same studio where The Ellen Degeneres Show. She also has the help of the same production team that worked with Ellen, Telepictures. In previous statements, Hudson has expressed how thrilled she is to get to work with such an iconic team.
