‘Yellowstone’ Creator Starts ‘Lioness’ Production, Adds Cast
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has started production on his new series, Lioness. This series stars Zoe Saldaña, Jill Wagner, and Laysla De Oliveira. In addition, the series has just announced several additions of Yellowstone alum in the cast of this new Paramount+ series.
Lioness Stars Production With Yellowstone Creator
Paramount’s new series, Lioness has just started production. On Tuesday, Jill Wagner, who co-created the series with Taylor Sheridan wrote on Instagram that the series was going to start production on Wednesday. The Mystery 101 star also shared her emotions about starring in such an exciting project.
“Sitting here wondering how the heck I got here. Tomorrow we start filming on the first day of Lioness (my new show with @paramountplus) and I can NOT believe that little ol’ Jill Wagner from the small town of Wallburg NC gets to be on the same set as the actors I have admired for most of my life. More than that I hope the men and women of the military know how much I admire and appreciate your sacrifice. This show is for you.”
Originally, the series was supposed to start filming back in June. However, in early July, Variety reported that the original showrunner, Thomas Brady, moved on.
The departure was described as “amicable.” Most importantly, all of the writing was done, with Brady participating in the writing room process.
Yellowstone Alum Added To Lioness
On Wednesday, Variety reported that Lioness added three actors familiar with Yellowstone. They include Dave Annable (Walker, Yellowstone), James Jordan (Mayor Of Kingstown, Yellowstone), and LaMonica Garrett (The Terminal List, 1883).
What Is Paramount+ Series About?
Lioness is based on the real-life CIA program. Joe (Saldaña) is a strong-willed, hard-nosed, station chief of the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team.
In addition, her job is to train, manage and lead the all-email undercover operatives who are tasked with infiltrating the local community and gathering intel. Moreover, these operatives are trained to assassinate the world’s most dangerous terrorists.
Firstly, Dave Annable plays Neil, Joe’s husband. The couple has two daughters. As for James Jordan and LaMonica Garrett, they portray Two Cups and Tucker. They both work on Joe’s team as CIA Special Activities Division operatives.
Lastly, Laysla De Oliveira portrays Cruz Manuelos. She is a “rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine.” As for Jill Wagner, she portrays Bobby. However, we don’t know a lot about her role but surely, more is to be revealed.
Jill Wagner Worked On Project For Years
For years, Jill Wagner dreamed of creating Lioness. This is finally coming true with one of the hottest showrunners on television, Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan.
In the past year, fans of the Hallmark alum have watched her transform her body for this role as a Marine. Moreover, she even dramatically cut her hair, now looking unrecognizable.
