What Moved Jason Lewis To Join ‘Dancing With The Stars’?
Actor Jason Lewis is going to be part of the upcoming Dancing With The Stars season! Good Morning America unveiled the full cast list this week and announced the 51-year-old actor would compete with Peta Murgatroyd this year.
Many celebrity guests come to Dancing With The Stars for a wide variety of reasons. But what exactly prompted Jason Lewis to join the Season 31 cast? Keep reading to get the inside scoop.
Jason Lewis originally wasn’t at all interested in joining DWTS
Sex and the City fans definitely remember Jason Lewis for his role as one of Samantha’s boyfriends, Smith. But is he ready to step out on the dance floor and show off his ballroom abilities? Like many other participants, Lewis is nervous but ready. And he has his fiancee Liz to thank for encouraging him to join the show.
“I’d always said no to it because I perceived it as reality TV, and it wasn’t a point of interest,” the actor told the press during a DWTS press conference. “This year, when the offer came in, my fianceé asked me to be a little less pigheaded and at least take a look at a show.”
“It is incredibly beautifully done. The dancers are so talented,” he continued.
Jason Lewis’ partner is also beyond thrilled that he’s been paired with Peta this year.
“She had her short list of people that she really hoped I was going to end up with and Peta was on it,” he continued. “It’s been fun because she’s not only kept me up to speed, but it’s having somebody to share it with who’s really enthusiastic. She’s such a great support. Love you, babe!”
How are rehearsals going for the dynamic duo?
Jason Lewis is a perfect Dancing With The Stars candidate because he admittedly has no dance experience. Fans love it when a newcomer steps into the ballroom and dominates the competition.
“I am insecure,” the Sex and the City actor said during the press conference. “I am not a good dancer. I’m self-conscious. And so the ability to take a space like this that is a fear-based space for myself.”
“We learned that he’s a little stiff and we need to oil those joints,” Peta added. “We also learned that he has a great frame. He’s got great lines. His shoulders don’t come up when we are in frames so I was super pleased with that. We just need to get things moving and grooving, that’s for sure.”
