How To Watch Nate Diaz’s UFC Fight At ‘UFC 279’
UFC 279 has gone terribly wrong in every way this week. It all started with a press conference advertising the fight that saw several men get into physical fights backstage. Then, the main event of Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev ended up changed at the last minute.
However, Nate Diaz remains one of the best UFC fighters out there, and seeing him fight is always a big thing. While Diaz has a new opponent, here is how you can watch UFC 279 and its new main event of Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson.
How to watch Nate Diaz at UFC 279 tonight
Nate Diaz will fight Tony Ferguson, a UFC legend, at UFC 279, but seeing it isn’t as simple as turning on a TV or buying it on pay-per-view. UFC has a deal with ESPN, and as it is with Disney, the company wants to use this association to sell its streaming services. ForĀ UFC 279, fans who want to see it have to be subscribed to ESPN+.
For those unfamiliar, ESPN+ is a streaming service that allows sports fans to watch a lot of sporting events, and it is one way that college football fans can watch their teams play when its not on regular TV or cable. One example is that Oklahoma Sooners fans can’t watch the Kent State game on regular TV since no networks picked it up, but ESPN+ will air it on the streaming service.
However, for UFC, it is even more costly. ESPN+ is either $9.99 a month if paid for monthly or is cheaper if bought as part of a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu. The problem is that UFC 279 is only available on ESPN+ and then it costs extra for those who already pay for the service. Basically, its a pay-per-view that only ESPN+ subscribers can purchase.
If a UFC fan has a subscription to ESPN+, they still have to pay $75 for the UFC card. However, if anyone is not a subscriber yet, they can buy ESPN+ for a year and bundle one UFC PPV event into the bundle, which would make the Nate Diaz PPV free for a cost of $100 for one year of ESPN+.
What is on the UFC 279 card?
If anyone is thinking of getting the UFC 279 card, just know that it has completely changed. Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz has changed to Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson. The Tony Ferguson vs. Li Jingliang fight has changed to Li Jingliang vs. Daniel Rodriguez. The other change was the Kevin Holland vs. Daniel Rodriguez fight changing to Khamzat Chimaev vs. Kevin Holland.
The reason for the change was that Khamzat Chimaev came into the official weight in at 7.5 pounds over the 171 pound limit for his weight bracket.
UFC 279 starts at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) on September 10.
