Nayte Olukoya Reveals Shocking Details On Michelle Young Split
Every story has two sides and Nayte Olukoya is finally sharing his. He and Michelle Young broke up over the summer ending their short engagement. She said she didn’t see the split coming and was heartbroken. Now, Nayte is speaking out and sharing what went down that led to their demise.
Nayte Olukoya shared his side of the story on Michelle Young split
Nayte Olukoya appeared on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files where he opened up and bluntly shared what went down in his relationship with Michelle Young. Of course, Nayte and Michelle met during her season of The Bachelorette. He proposed on the finale and they seemed somewhat happy.
A big shocking reveal was that Nayte admitted to ending their engagement over the phone. He said, “It was her birthday weekend. We’re all here in L.A. because her and I got invited to this Wango Tango event. At the beginning of the weekend, things were kind of rocky. It got even more rocky. Wango Tango happened. Her and I got into an argument right before doing all those press interviews and whatnot.”
He continued, “I broke up with her over the phone. You don’t want to break up with someone, especially your fiancée, over the phone.”
Nayte shared that he and Michelle had deep conversations all weekend. He also shared deep conversations with her friends. He noted that it was just an overall bad weekend for everyone.
When things started to go south
Nayte shared that he and Michelle started talking about splitting up in January just after her season finale was shown on television. However, they went many more months before finally calling it quits for good. He even said they had roughly three different conversations about breaking up during this time.
Nayte also said, “Our relationship was tough. There’s lots of ups and downs, lots of arguments, lots of fights, and just not really clicking, not really seeing eye to eye. It was rocky. … Don’t get me wrong, we had amazing moments in between rockiness, but it was rocky.”
According to Nayte, the Michelle he fell in love with and the Michelle he broke up with was two very different people. He said, “Michelle and I, the beginning of that relationship was probably one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced. We had so much fun. … I miss the Michelle that I fell in love with. I’m not sure I miss the Michelle I broke up with.”
Nayte didn’t like her DM’s to a famous country singer
Nayte finally had enough and ended the relationship over the phone. He said he didn’t want to go to the CMA’s. Nayte continued the story saying, “She’s like, ‘Hey, if we’re not doing CMAs next week, we have to give them a reason why.’ And I just blurted out, ‘We’re not doing CMAs because I can’t be with you anymore.’ So yeah, I broke up with her over the phone, which is a dick move.”
Nayte also admitted to having issues and insecurities about Michelle DMing a very famous country singer. The name was not shared but many fans were speculating it was Chris Rice. The DM’s weren’t a big deal until she deleted the conversation on the app. This got Nayte a bit concerned.
He said, “Like, 20 seconds later, I glanced at your phone again and the entire thread is gone. So obviously, alarms are going off in my head,” he explained. “I’m like, ‘Hey, I glanced at your phone and you were talking to this country music singer. And now the entire thread is gone. I have to ask, what was that about?’ The story that she told me just made no sense.”
He admits that even though she apologized he had some trust issues going forward.
Their conversations about breaking up over the months are also the big reason Nayte did not move to Minnesota.
