And on Tuesday, John and Alyssa broke the news that they are expecting their fifth baby!
Lexi Webster reacts to Alyssa’s pregnancy news
In a new YouTube video, John and Alyssa sat down with each of their daughters individually and told them the exciting news. John asked Lexi, “What if we were gonna have another baby in the house?”
Lexi seemed surprised and said, “Ohhhh.” Then, she nervously laughed. She said that it would be “a lot of work.”
When John confirmed the news, Lexi asked, “Another one?” Later in the clip, Lexi begins laughing uncontrollably.
Bringing Up Bates fans show concern for the little girl
On Reddit, a fan reposted a clip of Lexi reacting to John and Alyssa’s big news. And many fans feel sorry for the five-year-old. One Bringing Up Bates fan wrote, “She’s like, I didn’t say I was excited. I’m laughing to try not to cry. Poor thing.”
Another one added, “This was so awkward and sad to watch. She knows another baby means more chores for her and Allie and less attention from mom. Hiding her emotions with laughter.”
Several Bringing Up Bates fans think that Lexi’s laughter might be a “coping mechanism” and that she isn’t laughing out of joy.
Yet another chimed in and said, “A child that young should not associate a baby with ‘a lot of work’. That’s actually really sad.”
Overall, fans are feeling concerned for Lexi and find this reaction from her to be pretty worrisome.

Hopefully, Lexi isn’t actually too upset by this news. Maybe she will be more excited when the baby actually arrives. Fans just hope that she won’t have to help out too much because she’s still so young herself.
