‘Life With Derek’ Revived For A Brand-New Movie

In 2005, a sitcom called Life with Derek hit in Canada. When the Disney Channel picked it up, it gained a huge audience in the United States as well. Now, the cast of the series has reunited and will bring a new movie showing what has happened since the show ended.

Here is what you need to know about the new Life with Derek movie, Life with Luca, and when you might see it.

Life with Derek returning

Life with Derek was a Canadian TV show that ran for four seasons and 70 episodes on Family Channel in Canada and Disney Channel in the United States. The show starred Michael Seater as Derek and Ashley Leggat as his new stepsister Casey. The problem is that the step-siblings are nothing alike.

Life with Derek Reunion

Casey was a self-sufficient teenage girl who grew up in a single-parent household with her mother and younger sister. She was a Type A personality, a competitive, highly organized, ambitious, impatient young woman. Furthermore, she excelled in academics and never accepts anything but the best.

Derek was the oldest child of three kids (a younger sister and brother), and he is everything that Casey is not. He is mostly laid back and often takes shortcuts to get what he wants. Derek also loved pulling pranks on Casey and this turned her entire life upside down. He made her hate everything about the new family dynamic.

By the end, they had grown to really care for each other as brother and sister and both ended up in college. In 2010, there was a spinoff movie called Vacation with Derek, which served as the season finale for Disney. Now, there is more.

Life with Luca movie to continue story

For anyone who wondered what happened to Derek and Casey, the new movie Life with Luca will reveal everything. According to the synopsis, The two had not seen each other for a long time and Derek came to visit. It had been 15 years since the series ended, and since then they are raising families of their own. This adds to other recent reboots, such as the rumored Hannah Montana one.

Ashley Leggat posted some photos to show the cast of the new movie for fans. “We’re backkkk!!! Had the time of my life filming Life with Luca. I can’t wait for you all to see what Derek & Casey have been up to in the last 15 years,” she wrote in the caption.

The title refers to one of Casey’s kids, her son Luca who is a lot more like Derek than he is Casey. He loves video games, pranks, and just chilling. This, of course, causes her all sorts of frustrations thanks to her rigid and structured personality. However, when Derek shows up with his 14-year-old daughter, the cousins are at odds and the conflict is brand new all over again.
