Carrie Ann Inaba is a staple of Dancing With The Stars. Year after year, fans love seeing her being the judge’s table. But not every fan realizes that she used to date one of the pro dancers she now critiques.
Season 29 champ Artem Chigvintsev and Carrie Ann had a two-year romance back in the 2000s. However, they both moved on and found love with others in the decade following their split. Artem Chigvintsev recently married WWE superstar Nikki Bella in a beautiful Parisian ceremony.

For many years, Carrie Ann Inaba and Artem Chigvintsev seemed to have a healthy working relationship even after their split. They never seemed to bother one another, which is why so many DWTS fans are shocked to learn about their romance in the first place.
However, things came to a bit of a head during Season 29.
That year, Artem partnered with The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe. The two ended up taking home the Mirrorball Trophy, but not without a struggle. For several weeks in a row, Carrie Ann Inaba gave Artem and Kaitlyn low scores. Many fans felt she was doing it on purpose due to issues stemming from the breakup. However, the judge denied that was the case at all.
“I think it’s hysterical. You know what I love though? This is what I love about the Bachelor fans and Bachelorette fans. They can create a story around it! And it’s weird because I totally understood what they were doing,” the former The Talk hostess said to Us Weekly at the time. “They’re like, there’s jealousy there and there’s this and that because that’s what the Bachelor and Bachelorette is all about, right? It’s about creating stories about everybody. Look, I love Artem, I respect him, I love him and Nikki [Bella] together.”
By the end of the season, it seemed like things had warmed between Carrie Ann and Artem once again. But how did she react to her ex-boyfriend’s wedding to Nikki Bella?

PEOPLE reports that Carrie Ann Inaba couldn’t be happier for the newlyweds. After they officially confirmed the news about their wedding, DWTS judge wrote a congratulatory Instagram story for the two. It appears that the two exes will continue to operate as friends and coworkers. Both Carrie Ann Inaba and Artem Chigvintsev will return for DWTS Season 31 this September.
Carrie Ann is single for now, but isn’t letting that stop her from wishing Nikki and Artem the best. Fans think that speaks volumes about her character.
