Dancing With The Stars Season 31 comes to Disney+ this fall

This year, DWTS execs are getting pretty desperate and want to win back fans. Switching platforms probably wasn’t the best choice to make that happen, but they’re doing everything in their power to get people to tune in. And that’s where one major change is coming into play.

TV Line reports that Dancing With The Stars Season 31 will stream without commercials on Disney+, making for an enticing viewing experience. Season 32 will also stream on Disney+, but right now it’s not known whether or not it will have commercials.

Many fans will probably appreciate watching the competition without any commercials, but it could potentially cause complications for dancers, judges, and the team responsible for resetting the stage. The dancers need time for costume changes and the judges need a break to collect their notes. Many routines feature confetti, balloons, and other “messy” things that have to be cleaned up before the next number. Disney+ will have to find a way to make all this come together before September 19 rolls around.

It also appears that the newest season will feature a pretty heavy emphasis on Disney-themed routines. The official Disney+ Twitter account recently put together a video to hype fans up, featuring several snippets of routines performed during Disney Night throughout the years.

Who will come back for the newest season?

Right now, the DWTS exec team hasn’t made any official announcements about casting. The official announcement regarding pro dancers and celebrity contestants will come on the morning of September 8 on Good Morning America.

All four judges will return to the judges’ table and Tyra Banks will return as the show’s hostess. But this year, Alfonso Ribeiro will join her as a cohost. The America’s Next Top Model star was allegedly upset about getting a cohost, but the DWTS exec team deemed it necessary.

According to insiders, Tyra really didn’t have a choice.

“Tyra was basically told that she would have to co-host the show with Alfonso or not host the show at all,” an insider reportedly told RadarOnline. “Tyra tried to host the show solo, and it just didn’t work. She thought her personality and talent would be enough, but viewers didn’t agree. Focus groups showed they missed the chemistry of two hosts working together. Obviously, Tyra wasn’t happy about the decision, but she had no choice, if she refused, she would have been shown the door.”

Will you watch Dancing With The Stars Season 31? Or do you plan to skip the current season? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments and check back for more DWTS news. There’s plenty to look forward to this season.
