The Netflix Special is slated to release on September 23, 2022.

The special draws inspiration from the game Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It was released in January 2022 for Nintendo Switch users. The game takes place in a distant past in the Sinnoh region. As seen in the official trailer, Ash & friends explore a town that recreates the historic Jubilife Village, which also serves as the main town center in the Nintendo game.

Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles Won’t Be Available In Asia

Simply put, the trailer looks adorable and fun, especially to see Dawn & her Piplup alongside Ash once again. The Pokémon Company also shared several stills from the special. It showcases bits and pieces from the storyline and the characters involved.

In the past, animated shorts such as Hisuian Snow have talked a bit about the history of the Sinnoh region in the Pokémon world. However, this is the first time Ash will get a crash course in dealing with a legendary Pokémon character whose power helped shape the land.

The English version of Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles will first premiere on August 18 at the 2022 Pokémon World Championship in London. The show will be available for visitors on a first come, first served basis at the event. It was originally released in Japan with a total of four episodes. Although the special is being dubbed as something new for Ash, he actually has firsthand experience of interacting with several of the legendary Pokémon set to appear in the Netflix Special.
