Hiroshi Otake was a veteran voice actor who lent his exemplary voice to popular anime series such as Hunter x Hunter, Pokémon, Death Note, and more. However, the renowned artist passed away on August 1, 2022, leaving anime fans heartbroken. 81 Produce, the talent management agency representing the artist, confirmed the news of his death.
As per Crunchyroll, he died due of acute heart failure.
81 Produce Announces News of Hiroshi Otake’s Demise
The 90-year-old received a private funeral ceremony on Monday that was attended by family and friends close to the legend.
81 Produce disclosed the news of Hiroshi’s demise on their official website in a post that read:
“Hiroshi Otake, an actor, belonging to our company, passed away on August 1, 2022, due to acute heart failure at the age of 90. The funeral rites were carried out without delay by relatives only on August 8. We ask for your kind understanding. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your kindness during his lifetime and would like to inform you of his passing.”
Hiroshi was an exemplary voice artist best known for his roles as:
- Boss in Mazinger Z
- Daisho in Himitsu no Akko-chan
- Nyarome in Moretsu Ataro
- Paman 2 (Booby) in Paman
- Buta Gorilla in Kiteretsu
- King Nikochan in Slump
Fans Pay Tribute To The Anime Voice Actor On Twitter
He was born on March 14, 1932, in Kanagawa Prefecture, just outside of Tokyo. After graduating from Meiji High School, he made his way into the television industry. Apart from being a voice actor, Hiroshi has also opted for the role of a mentor to several young talents interested in a voice-acting career.
After the news of his demise was made official, Twitter flooded with tributes from fans.

Lupine III Anime Voice Actor Kiyoshi Kobayashi Is No More
The news of Hiroshi Otake’s death follows that of Kiyoshi Kobayashi’s demise. He was popular for voicing Daisuke Jigen in Lupine III for more than 50 years. He passed away at the age of 89 due to pneumonia. His talent management agency, Haikyo, confirmed the news on Monday. The voice actor passed away on July 30, 2022.
Kiyoshi had retired for almost a year from his role as Daisuke, which lasted from 1969 to 2021.
