Crunchyroll Announces ‘Lycoris Recoil’ English Dub
A beautiful storyline with all-female assassins and spies, Lycoris Recoil, is a Japanese anime series created by Spider Lily and licensed by Aniplex of America. Directed by Shingo Adachi and written by Asaura, the anime adaptation premiered on July 2, 2022, with a total of 6 episodes on air. However, the anime didn’t have an English dub until now!
Lycoris Recoil Season 1 English Dub Arrives Later In August
Aniplex of America had previously confirmed their plans for an English dub for the anime. Now, Crunchyroll has confirmed that the dubbed version of Lycoris Recoil Season 1 will premiere later this month. However, no final date has been revealed as of now.

Earlier this month, the main cast members for the English dub were revealed by Aniplex of America, including:
- Lizzie Freeman (Hotaru Hiraiwa in Akebi’s Sailor Uniform) as Chisato Nishikigi
- Xanthe Huynh (Haru Okumura in PERSONA5 the Animation) as Takina Inoue
- Jennifer Losi (Naomi Randall in Scarlet Nexus) as Mizuki Nakahara
- Lisa Reimold (Kinako in Tokyo 24th Ward) as Kurumi
- Bob Carter (Bojack in Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound) as Mika
- Kayleigh McKee (Bat in The Detective is Already Dead) as Kusunoki

Crunchyroll describes the series as:
“For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: ‘DA – Direct Attack.’ And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris.” This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco. Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It’s mostly tasked unbefitting Lycoris. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!”
Lycoris Recoil Now Streaming On Crunchyroll With English Subs
For fans who are too excited to wait for the dubbed version, Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime series with English subs.

Among the lead characters from the show is Chisato Nishikigi, who is all-smiles and upbeat. But hidden beneath is the strongest Lycoris with surprisingly great accuracy and technique. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Takina Inoue, with a serious, calm, and composed demeanor. She also acts on a whim instead of taking her decisions after intensive calculations. This is the reason she was reassigned from the HQ to Café LycoReco. Here, she doubles up as a Lycoris and a café attendant.
Takina is assigned to Chisato as a partner to help her learn from the highly acclaimed Lycoris. However, Takina doubts whether this bubbly personality could actually teach her anything as she tries to get back to the headquarters. Her doubts are quickly crushed after she observes Chisato’s skills firsthand.
Is Lycoris Recoil Renewed For Season 2?
Will Takina make it to the HQ? Will she learn anything from Chisato? This is something fans will learn in Season 2. No news of renewal has been confirmed as of now. However, if things work out well in terms of reception by fans and critics, news of renewal might be announced in late 2023. But, this is something to be decided only if Season 1 does well. So far, the show has garnered an 8.2/10 rating on My Anime List, a 7.3/10 rating on IMDb, and a 5/5 on Crunchyroll.
