Grease star and pop star singing sensation Olivia Newton-John has been confirmed dead at the age of 73. Loved internationally, fans around the world wonder what her cause of death was and if she passed peacefully. The pop icon’s husband John Easterling issued a statement on the passing of his wife.

According to TMZ, Olivia’s husband John Easterling issued a statement regarding the passing of his wife. According to John, the Grease star died peacefully. She passed peacefully at her ranch located in Southern California on Monday morning. John Easterling confirms Olivia was surrounded by her family and friends during her final hours.

As fans of Olivia Newton-John know, she spent the past three decades of her life battling breast cancer. The husband’s statement did not include a specific cause of death. Another source close to the family, however, tells TMZ her cause of death was related to her cancer.

“After a 30-year cancer journey, she lost her battle to metastatic breast cancer.” The source told TMZ.

A Closer Look At Her Career

Olivia Newton-John first rose to fame in the 70’s because of her hit songs “If Not for You,” and “Let Me Be There.” It, however, was in 1978 when she landed the lead role next to John Travolta in Grease that she really catapulted her career. People around the world fell in love with Olivia Newton-John and her portrayal of Sandy. Several of Sandy’s songs from Grease also quickly became iconic songs that people all around the world loved to sing. Some of these iconic songs included “You’re the One that I Want,” “Summer Nights,” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You.”

Olivia Newton-John Had A Rough Battle

It was back in 1992 that Olivia Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She went into remission a few times with cancer surfaced again in 2013 and 2017. According to TMZ’s source, Olivia battled her cancer for over 30 years before losing her battle.
