During the 2022 Crunchyroll Expo, the anime streaming platform announced several renewals and new manga anime adaptations. With a new trailer for Mob Psycho 100 and Chainsaw Man, a surprise arrival is the news of Tower of God being renewed for Season 2. This Crunchyroll Original has been a surprise for anime lovers who binged on the thirteen episodes that aired in Season 1.

Tower Of God Webtoon Creator Goes On A Hiatus

Although the anime adaptation is returning for Season 2, the webtoon that served as the source material for the anime has gone on an indefinite hiatus. The webtoon creator S.I.U., aka Lee Jong Hui, has been struggling with health issues and has stepped away from work. The webtoon was first released in 2010 & ever since has released several chapters over its decade-plus history. As of now, there is no announcement for its return.

Regardless, fans don’t have to worry about the anime shutting down anytime soon, given the fact that makers have enough content to continue for multiple seasons. Hopefully, by the time the existing content has been adapted, the artist returns with a new one.

Crunchyroll‘s official press release made this surprise announcement which read:

“The long-awaited second season of the celebrated anime series Tower of God, based on SIU’s WEBTOON webcomic, is headed to Crunchyroll. The sensationally beloved series of the same name originated on WEBTOON–the world’s largest digital comics platform home to 82 million monthly users–where it has over 4.8 billion views online and will also be debuting its first volume of the upcoming graphic novel edition from WEBTOON Unscrolled on November 22. Season two of the dark fantasy series will follow Bam as he continues his journey through the mysterious tower.”
