The NCIS team in Season 20

Fans are anxiously awaiting the NCIS Season 20 premiere. They want to know what the new season will bring, as well as who might return and what adventures the agents will go on. There is also the major cliffhanger from Season 19 that needs to be answered. Here is a look at the NCIS Season 20 release date and what fans can expect from the season.

NCIS Season 20 release date

The official NCIS season 20 release date is Monday, September 19, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. This will allow fans to see what the show will look like now that Mark Harmon’s Gibbs is no longer running the show.

What to expect from the new season of NCIS

NCIS Season 20

The big thing about the new season of NCIS is that the show will start off with the team racing to save a team member. In the cliffhanger at the end of the 19th season, Agent Parker’s ex-wife was kidnapped. It happened around the same time the team learned the villain, the Raven, had returned. The Raven almost killed both Jimmy Palmer and Kasie Hines earlier in the season.

The big twist came when Parker went into hiding with his ex-wife and she texted the words, “It’s done. I have him” into her phone. While Parker went into hiding, so his team could clear his name, it appears his ex is working for someone else, and it is likely not the FBI. If she is working with the Raven, both Agent Parker and his entire team are in danger. This will likely play out in the first few episodes of the new season.

There will also be a plot line following the new romantic relationship building between Jimmy Palmer and Agent Knight. While the show is mostly about the cases of the week, and the overall running mysteries surrounding one specific case, it always pays close attention to its characters’ lives. With Jimmy having his share of tragedy lately, it might be nice to see him finally finding some happiness.

Who is returning to NCIS?

NCIS in Season 20

The cast for NCIS includes its senior agent in Sean Murray’s Timothy McGee. He joined the show in the first season and is the only agent from that original lineup still on the show. David McCallum, who plays former medical examiner, Dr. Ducky Mallard, is also still on the show on a limited basis. Brian Dietzen also returns as medical examiner Dr. Jimmy Palmer. He has been on the show since Season 1 as well.

Also returning is Wilmer Valderrama as Nicholas Torres, the only other agent with over one season of experience. Returning for her fifth season on NCIS is Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines, the forensic specialist who replaced Abby when Pauley Perrette left the show. Gary Cole returns as Alden Parker, the team’s leader, who replaced Gibbs. The newest member of the team, Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) also returns.

There are also rumors of returning stars. Mark Harmon is still the executive producer, and there is always a chance he could pop in here and there in a cameo role. The other big question mark is Michael Weatherly. He left the show as Tony DiNozzo when he got his own show called Bull. With that show canceled, could NCIS bring back DiNozzo to give fans the goodbye to him and Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David that they never got?
