‘Riverdale’ Fans Shook As KJ Apa Pushes Reset On Red Hair
The CW’s favorite red-haired Riverdale star KJ Apa is more than what meets the eyes. The New Zealand-born actor is popular for his soul-searching eyes, killer smile, and of course, the red hair. Riverdale Star KJ Apa Celebrates 25th Birthday
The father of one recently turned 25 on June 17, and now he decided that it was time for him to go back to his old self. Given his long stint in Riverdale, fans were under the notion that KJ Apa is actually a redhead, but it looks like that isn’t the case. As per Today, the actor recently reverted to his natural brown hair that looks equally gorgeous on him.

On Thursday, the 25-year-old shared a picture of himself on Instagram, flaunting his brand new haircut and hair color. So, he is no more a redhead! The actor swapped his medium-length copper mane for a sharp brown buzzcut. In the picture, he has a yellow flower tucked behind his ears, looking all adorable as he smiles at the camera. The New Zealand native captioned the post, “Reset. One Fast Move.”
The photo of this new change received more than 1 Million likes as his Riverdale co-stars dug into the comments to compliment the new look. Molly Ringwald, who plays Mary Andrews, the mother of Apa’s character, showed her love in the comments and wrote, “OMG, I (followed by three red-heart emojis).”
“Who’s that?” commented Nicholas Galitzine, who stars in the upcoming movie Red White and Royal Blue. Colin Lawrence from the Virgin River also commented something similar and wrote, “Who dis!?!??”
KJ Apa Hints At His Upcoming Movie On Instagram
But why did KJ decide to revert to his old self? Is there a secret behind it? The second part of his caption, “One Fast Move,” might answer the question. It isn’t simply a quote, but rather the name of his upcoming movie that was announced in June. In the movie, KJ stars as a dishonorably discharged soldier that takes up motorcycle racing.

So, it is officially confirmed that the star is a brunette and not the redhead you have seen through the five seasons of Riverdale. Back in January 2017, during an interview with Teen Vogue, KJ confirmed that he is a natural brunette & dyed his eyebrows and hair to justify his role in the CW series.
As stated by the TV star during the interview, the hair transformation took about eight hours at the salon, with touchups scheduled every two weeks.
When Will Riverdale Season 7 Premiere?
With Riverdale Season 7 slated to be the final one for the TV series, it looks like KJ’s latest look is here to stay! Given that every Riverdale season kicked off around October or November, you don’t have to be a detective to figure out that the final season will air sometime around October or November 2022.
