‘Teen Mom’ Stars Speak Out After Amber Portwood’s Custody Loss
Teen Mom Amber Portwood suffered a tough loss this week when a judge gave her ex, Andrew Glennon, full custody of their son James, 4. The judge also allowed him to move James from Indiana to California.
While Amber got a lifeline in a step-by-step program leading to partial custody of the child, it was a hard break for her. Amber took to Instagram after the decision to express her heartbreak. Additionally, her co-stars from Teen Mom chimed in with comments and messages for Amber.
Amber Portwood posts message after custody loss
After the judge made his decision and allowed Andrew to move James to California, Amber took to her Instagram account and posted a text photo message for her fans.
“I’m devastated and heartbroken by this outcome,” she wrote. “I’ve worked so hard to better myself and improve my relationships with my children. While I’ve always been candid about my past substance abuse and issues with mental health, a person should have a chance to redeem themselves and not be tethered to their issues from the past. People who’ve done therapy, and taken classes, and made efforts to change should not continue to be punished for past mistakes. I’ve spent years rebuilding my bridges and did everything that was required of me, including completing 21 negative drug tests and multiple psychological evaluations.”
Teen Mom stars comment on Amber Portwood losing custody
After posting the message, Amber Portwood received a lot of responses from her Teen Mom castmates. Among those who responded were Catelynn Lowell, Mackenzie McKee, and Maci Bookout. While the co-stars have a habit of being catty with each other, they were all supporting Amber and wished her well.
“I love you. I’m so sorry that this is happening and SO undeserved,” Catelynn wrote. “He needs you in his life and what they decided is so wrong on so many levels… YOU kno ur truth and all the hard work you have done. DONT let ANYONE make you think differently! I’m here for you forever and always.”
“My love to you sweet Amber, everyone deserves the grace of a second chance,” Mackenzie wrote. “Especially when they put in the hard work of changing and we’ve all seen you put that work in. We know you love your kids and this is completely un fair. Don’t give up. You are a queen and there are better days ahead. I am rooting for you.”
The fans in the comments were a little less kind, and several fights broke out in the section between those who defended Amber and those who brought up her past. However, as the judge said, there is a chance for Amber to still earn her rights back in steps. It is now time for her to put in a little more work to earn the trust back again.
