Amber and Trent Johnston seem to be genuinely worried about their son and want to make sure he’s okay. They don’t want him to have to handle everything on his own.

In the preview, he specifically mentions his anxiety and says it’s starting to affect his relationship, too.

While Jonah may appreciate the fact that his parents are helping him out, it turns out that there are some downsides to moving back in with them.

In the preview, Trent and Amber sit down to talk with Jonah’s girlfriend, Ashley. While chatting with Ashley, Trent says, “We became really nosy parents. We took Jonah’s phone.”

Then, Trent Johnston reveals how they violated Jonah’s privacy. He says, “We read messages between you guys.”

The preview is pretty brief and doesn’t reveal what Amber and Trent Johnston discovered on Jonah’s phone. So, it’s unclear just how bad things are.

Ashley seems shocked. In a confessional, she says, “The fact that they went through his phone, it kind of scared me. One little thing could trigger anything.”

Back at the table, Amber says, “It is just not going to work.”

As Ashley gets into her car to leave, she talks to Jonah about the whole conversation. She says, “It’s not just me and you. It’s us. That’s what’s gonna make it work. It’s all or nothing.”

Jonah doesn’t say much as he says goodbye to his girlfriend. It’s unclear how exactly this invasion of privacy will affect Jonah and Ashley’s relationship moving forward. But it certainly seems like it has hit Ashley hard.
