Why is American Pickers star Frank Fritz in the hospital?
Frank Fritz suffered a stroke on Thursday, July 21. At the time of this writing, he’s currently in the hospital. Frank is the original host of American Pickers. Ever since the news broke, there have been no updates about his current condition. As always, check back with TV Shows Ace for the latest news and updates.
The History Channel fired Frank from American Pickers. At the time, he was recovering from grueling back surgery. Frank last appeared during a March 2020 episode. He took some time to recover from the surgery that left him with 185 stitches and two rods in his spine.
Mike confirmed on Instagram that Frank was booted from the show in July 2021. It was unclear why the network moved on without the original cast member. It was rumored that Mike and Frank weren’t on the best of terms. The show tended to favor Mike over Frank, and that caused a rift between them.
In an interview with The Sun, Frank said that Mike didn’t reach out to him after his firing. The two haven’t talked in years. Frank wished that Mike would’ve been there for him at a difficult time in his life. However, he managed to change his life around and lose 65 pounds after the surgery.
“I haven’t talked to Mike in two years,” Frank told The Sun. “He knew my back was messed up, but he didn’t call me up and ask how I was doing. That’s just how it is.”
Their torn friendship could take a turn after this health scare. Mike broke his silence on social media. He’s asking fans for their prayers right now. Mike admitted that he hopes Frank will “make it.”
