Netflix announced Uncharted for a July release for fans of the video game movie. However, its release date came and went and there was no sign of it anywhere.

However, the good news is the new Uncharted release date has been revealed and the wait for the movie to arrive on Netflix is only one more month away.

Netflix changes ‘Uncharted’ release date

Originally, the Uncharted release date on Netflix was July 15. This was part of the new deal Sony has with Netflix, allowing the streaming giant to get its movies before other streaming services. It did not include the first release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. That movie arrived in theaters in 2021, weeks before the Netflix-Sony deal took effect.

However, the Uncharted release date came and went and the movie was not on Netflix. Fans who went to watch the movie on Netflix received a screen that said “this title currently isn’t available to watch in your country.”

However, there is some good news for fans who want to see the Tom Holland-Mark Wahlberg video game adaptation. There is a new Uncharted release date when you check out Netflix and that is August 19. This means that fans wanting to see it on Netflix only have to wait for a little over one month from the originally announced date to see it on the small screen.

Netflix never revealed why the Uncharted release date changed, but this could be a concern for people excited to see Sony movies on Netflix. Spider-Man: No Way Home hit in December and it had no problem hitting its streaming destination on Starz. That movie arrived on July 15 without delay.

This isn’t the first time ‘Uncharted’ was delayed

Fans of Uncharted are used to waiting a long time to see the movie. The original movie hit theaters a year after it was supposed to arrive. The movie originally went into development in 2008 and finally secured Spider-Man actor Tom Holland for the lead in 2017. Then, COVID-19 caused delays all across Hollywood.

The Uncharted release date in theaters was supposed to be on December 18, 2020. However, Sony kept pushing back the movie thanks to COVID-19 delays. It finally hit theaters 14 months later, with a February 18, 2022 release. The movie was a financial success, making $401.7 million worldwide, the fifth-highest-grossing video game movie of all time.

Uncharted is based on the PlayStation video game franchise. Tom Holland plays Nathan Drake, the brother of a professional treasure hunter who disappeared. When he meets a fortune hunter named Sully Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg, he is swept into an adventure where they hunt down hidden treasure. However, things get dangerous when a ruthless treasure hunter named Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas) targets the same treasure.
